Medieval and Templar sword collection

Born of the needs of the combat course and reenactment, the SK system conveniently classifies exhibition swords into three levels. SK-A is aimed at the most accomplished and hardened blades for sustained use; SK-B is suitable for regular practitioners; SK-C is for initiation and light exchanges. This code is not an official standard, but a common language used by workshops and troupes to calibrate the robustness of stage weapons. At the same time, the associations' safety rules impose blunt cutting edges (often around 2 mm, depending on the group), spatulated or rounded tips, equipment checks and supervised choreography. The bottom line is this: realism must remain subordinate to safety, so that the medieval sword finds its way back onto the stage without compromising the integrity of the actors.

In the Middle Ages, the Spanish city of Toledo was renowned throughout Europe for the exceptional quality of its swords. Its blacksmiths possessed an ancestral know-how inherited from Arab traditions: the secret lay in the folding of several layers of steel, creating blades that were flexible, sharp and virtually unbreakable. Rapid tempering in mysterious baths (sometimes enriched with secret ingredients... or ritual sacrifices) added to the mythical aura of these weapons.
Prestigious knights, from crusaders to great captains, swore by Toledo swords. Legendary blades such as the Tizona, associated with the Cid Campeador, are said to have originated in these forges blessed by fire... and forgotten traditions.
