Ninjato, ninja sword

Was the ninjato (忍者 刀 Ninjatō) the preferred weapon of the ninjas, those black-clad spies and warriors, as imagined in films, manga and video games for several decades? Probably not... but the fact remains that this straight-bladed saber still leaves its mark. More suited to collecting than martial arts training, these Japanese swords challenge our vision of samurai fighting ninjas with unconventional martial practices.
