The bokken is a training weapon made of wood or polypropylene in the shape of a katana.

It is used in various martial arts such as aikido (合気道 aikidō, the way of energy concordance), iaido (居合道 iaidō, the art of drawing the sword), jodo (杖道 jōdō, the way of the stick), kendo (剣道 / 劍道 kendō, the way of the sword), kenjutsu (剣術, sword technique) and ninjutsu (忍術, the art of perseverance).

FA	Fabienne Auzende (november 2025) Iaido sword I'm bluffed by the material used for my training sword. However, part of the blade is a little deformed. The hakama is essential if you want to practice, as the cord is useless. The sword doesn't fasten around the waist. It gets caught between the folds of the hakama. Provided you have one.
