Iaito (居合刀 iaitō), Japanese training sword for iaido (居合道 iaïdō), the art of drawing the sword

The iaïto (居合刀 iaïtō) is a Japanese training weapon. It is made like a katana (刀 samurai sword) but is not sharpened.

Different materials can be used for the blade: steel (to approximate the katana) or aluminum (for risk-free practice). The iaïtō is used in the practice of iaïdo (居合道 iaïdō, the art of drawing the sword) and iaïjutsu (a technique that emphasizes speed and realistic cutting).

Sheath lightning: Hayashizaki's revelation

According to tradition, the young samurai Hayashizaki Jinsuke Minamoto no Shigenobu (1542-1621) prayed and meditated for a hundred days at the Hayashizaki Myōjin shrine to avenge his murdered father. At the end of this retreat, he is said to have received in a dream the lightning technique that enabled him to draw and strike in a single gesture: the ancestor of iaido.
This "instant sword" revolutionized the art of kenjutsu, placing the emphasis on presence of mind (居) and immediate harmony (合). The term iaidō wasn't formalized until 1932, however, when the spiritual emphasis of the (道) took precedence over mere warrior technique; iaido has since been referred to as "Zen in motion".

Japanese martial arts, with their elegance and rich history, are often associated with the iconic katana. Choosing the blade length of your katana is a crucial decision for any martial arts practitioner, as it directly influences the weapon's handling, balance and performance. Here are a few tips to help you make the right choice.

During the expedition, it would be...
During shipping, it would be interesting to put a piece of polystyrene under the middle of the blade, because during transport a heavier parcel was placed on the package and the blade arrived slightly bent, apart from that everything is perfect.
