Samurai bust with katana

3D-printed collector's statuette, hand-finished, aged bronze look

This statuette embodies my samurai soul. From fearless warrior, I became a symbol. Accompanied by my katana and my metal and boiled leather armor, I have traveled paths, skirted mountains, explored caves and served many warlords. I've fought in many battles. All have been victorious. The breath of life left me when I had already retired from the military and martial tumult, in a temple surrounded by several tree-lined gardens. Every year, I waited for the cherry blossoms to bloom, a perfect illustration of our impermanence. Now I'm perpetuating the spirit of Bushidō, the soul of Japan, according to Inazō Nitobe¹.

¹ "Bushidō, the Soul of Japan" (武士道, Bushidō) is a work by Inazō Nitobe (1862-1933) published in 1900.
