"Justice" medieval forged sword

Forged European medieval sword, XIVᵗʰ / XVᵗʰ century, brass guard and pommel, natural horn handle, wood and leather scabbard with belt decorated with a griffin and chimeras

Some people see me as a weapon. To tell the truth, this is not my true vocation. I'm here to symbolize and apply Justice, not just human Justice, but rather divine Justice, the kind that time has no hold on. I'm a sword, but not only that. Above all, I am the vector of a balance to which human societies have aspired since the dawn of time. I remain sober despite the use of metals that have become expensive in these troubled times. I'm a bearer of meaning, and I'm looking for the man or woman who knows how to use me wisely. It's high time we rediscovered the true value of Humanity: Justice, in the noblest sense and not an accumulation of incomprehensible and misguided texts. I'm the one who makes decisions without concern for interests, but whose energy comes from legitimacy and truth.

History & archaeology

This sword model is similar to the one now on display at the Musée de l'Armée in Paris (Invalides, Dist. RMN-Grand Palais / Emilie Cambier). It is a sword of arms from the XIVᵗʰ / XVᵗʰ century, of which here are some illustrations [basedescollections.musee-armee.fr ].
Other models of this type of sword are also dated to the Battle of Crécy (1346), of which this is an example [www.pinterest.fr ].

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York also offers a fine example of asword, dated around 1400 [www.metmuseum.org ]. The silver-trimmed pommel and copper-alloy guard wrapped in silver wire suggest that this sword was intended for knighthood or ceremonial purposes, rather than as a combat weapon. The Latin quotation on the pommel reads: "Here, too, virtue has its just reward" (Virgil, Aeneid, Book 1, line 461). The (now illegible) inscription on the blade is an early example of the use of engraving to decorate a weapon. Around a century later, acid etching became a popular means of embellishing weapons and armor.

Legislation

Since September 6, 2013, new legal provisions stemming from the March 6, 2012 law have come into force. These new rules have strengthened criminal penalties against weapons offenders and introduced a new classification.
Swords, daggers and knives are now classified in category D. The purchase and possession of these weapons is unrestricted. In principle, they may not be carried or transported without legitimate reason. If transported, the weapon must not be "directly" usable. It must be securely packed in a case or container, preferably with a padlock or other protective system.
