The legend...

Excalibur is the legendary magic sword of King Arthur, King of the Bretons, in the medieval texts of the Arthurian legend of Brittany.

Some consider Excalibur and the Sword of the Rock (proof of Arthur's lineage) to be one and the same weapon, but in most versions of the legend they are two distinct swords.

Excalibur is reputed to be unbreakable and able to cut through any material. Its scabbard protects the wearer from injury. King Arthur, holding both artifacts, was invincible on the battlefield.
