Chirihama, sharpened katana (千里浜, beach of..., Ishikawa prefecture, Japan)
Sharp katana with scabbard (saya 鞘) wood, brown and partial ringed sheath, supplied with protective cloth cover
The first samurai I served lived in Kaga Province (加賀国) in the early XVIIᵗʰ century. He served the Maeda clan, the real family that ruled Japan during the Tokugawa shogunate. A keen fisherman, he was a regular sailor on the Sea of Japan. As a result, he lived for a long time in the vicinity of Chirihama beach (千里浜). Now located in Ishikawa Prefecture (石川県), it is best known today for its exceptional openness to sandy motorized traffic. In fact, this is the color my master chose for my mount. Destroyed and rebuilt several times, it has retained its characteristic brown color of wet sand. He used to train for hours on a boat launched from the sea. The instability of this frail skiff enabled him to develop a particular technique for handling the sword. This is also the reason why he fitted my scabbard (鞘 saya) with a sheath that still holds it perfectly today, even in wet weather. I'm back with a new frame, faithful to the original. Will you also be able to master the art of swordsmanship on water?
