Templar black helmet

Among the many legends surrounding Gisors castle, one of the most mysterious involves the appearance of a knight in black armor, silently wandering the fortress' underground passages. According to local tradition, this spirit is that of a Templar who remained faithful to his oath, eternally watching over a buried secret.
Gisors castle, built in the XIᵉ century, was briefly entrusted to the Order of the Temple between 1158 and 1160, and later, in the XIVᵉ century, served as a prison for several Templar dignitaries, including Grand Master Jacques de Molay. These historical links have fed the collective imagination, giving rise to tales of ghostly guardians protecting treasures or esoteric secrets.
Some visitors claim to have sensed a strange presence in the castle's dark galleries, particularly near the "Prisoner's Tower", decorated with mysterious medieval graffiti. Although these testimonies remain anecdotal, they perpetuate the legend of the Black Templar, a symbol of loyalty and mystery.
