Sharp Katana with scabbard (saya 鞘) black with Kozuka (小柄 knife), cherry blossom and dragon decorations, supplied with a protective fabric cover.

As the saying goes, "The most beautiful flower is the cherry blossom, the best man is the warrior" (花は桜木人は武士). It was in this spirit that the master blacksmith gave birth to me. My tsuba (鍔) is decorated with cherry blossoms while my Kozuka (小柄), the knife housed in my scabbard (小柄 saya) bears a dragon. The cherry blossom (桜 Sakura) is a symbol of purity, beauty and happiness. It represents the realization of the samurai's martial priesthood. She is the image of ideal death, borrowed from Zen Buddhism, detached from the goods of this world, and the precariousness of life. The dragon embodies strength, power and unpredictability. It brings happiness, wealth and success. It symbolizes wisdom, perseverance and immortality.

Legislation

Since September 6, 2013, new legal provisions stemming from the March 6, 2012 law have come into force. These new rules have strengthened criminal penalties against weapons offenders and introduced a new classification.
Katanas, swords, daggers and knives are now classified in category D. The purchase and possession of these weapons are unrestricted. In principle, they may not be carried or transported without legitimate reason. If transported, the weapon must not be "directly" usable. It must be securely packed in a case or container, preferably with a padlock or other protective system.

I maintain the blade to protect it from oxidation. Unalloyed steel (without additives such as chromium and molybdenum) is prone to rust. An alloy of iron and carbon, steel is weakened by the presence of oxygen. Air can therefore attack it, which is why my oil helps protect the surface of this noble metal.
