Kyōteki sharpened katana (Kyouteki, "strong enemy" 強敵)

Practical edged katana with black frame (matte black saya), salamander decor, supplied with protective fabric cover.

Kyōteki (Kyouteki, "strong enemy" 強敵), that's my name.
I've fought dozens of times. In the hands of the various samurai masters I've served, I've eliminated enemies, both animal and human. My finest battle is illustrated in a unique print dating back nearly two centuries. It suggests that the short sword (wakisashi 脇差) was responsible for the outcome of the duel, but this is not the case.
Today, my dark mount allows me to guarantee that discretion proper to one who knows his power. Mate, my saya (鞘) doesn't reflect sunlight or moonlight. It absorbs them to help regenerate me.
This is the promise I make to those who master my power.

History & Symbols

Japanese print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi depicting the samurai Hanagami Danjo no jo Arakage fighting kappa, a giant salamander? #Terressens Japanese print
Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861)
Hanagami Danjo no jo Arakage, samurai battling the mythological creature kappa... a giant salamander?

The Japanese giant salamander(Andrias japonicus)

The Japanese giant salamander(Andrias japonicus, in Japanese, オオサンショウウオ/大山椒魚, Ōsanshōuo) is an amphibian. The second largest amphibian in the world, it can grow to nearly 1.50 m, and live for over 50 years.

It lives by night and sleeps by day. Even at night, it's not a very active animal. Thanks to its dark skin, which naturally provides excellent camouflage, it is able to conceal itself from the eyes of its prey, the small fish and crustaceans on which it feeds. She approaches them gently, then opens her wide mouth to swallow them.

In a completely different universe, the pokémon Maraiste is a giant salamander from Japan. It is described as slow and particularly giddy, opening its mouth wide to capture its prey, and sometimes hitting its head while swimming...

Legislation

Since September 6, 2013, new legal provisions stemming from the March 6, 2012 law have come into force. These new rules have strengthened criminal penalties against weapons offenders and introduced a new classification.
Katanas, swords, daggers and knives are now classified in category D. The purchase and possession of these weapons are unrestricted. In principle, they may not be carried or transported without legitimate reason. If transported, the weapon must not be "directly" usable. It must be securely packed in a case or container, preferably with a padlock or other protective system.
