Wakizashi sharpened black Miyamoto Musashi 宮本 武蔵
Sharp Wakizashi with black frame, Miyamoto Musashi tsuba, supplied with protective fabric cover
XVIIᵗʰ century, Musashi province (Tōkyō region)
Forged by Nagakuni, my affiliation was engraved on my silk (nakago 茎), discreetly, but indelibly.
I took part in over 60 fights. I accompanied my master, Miyamoto Musashi, who won them all, sometimes with a simple stick, as in his last duel with Sasaki Kojirô, founder of the Ganryû sword school. I inspired my master's techniques, so characteristic. Using two swords, katana and wakizashi, he created the "School of Two Swords" (Niken ryū).
I'm back today, carrying with me the master's teachings, in particular his nine principles, including the one I like best: to forge oneself in the Way by practising oneself.
