Katana sharpened "ikazuchi" (雷 lightning, thunder), Shihomizue forge, selective tempering, red and black
Sharp katana, intricate forging, genuine hamon (quenching line), supplied with black cloth cover, in cloth-covered case.
My red and black frame recalls the cave in which I was forged. The earth's fire still feeds the furnace housed at the bottom of the natural cavity. Carved into the rock, it has been used for centuries by a line of blacksmiths. I'm made from a variety of steels, for better resistance in training and combat. The characteristic waves of my hamon (刃文) run irregularly along my razor-sharp edge to the Kissaki (鋒), my tip, decorating my Bōshi (帽子 part of the temper line visible on the tip of a Japanese blade).
My name was given to me by the samurai master I served. Quick as lightning, powerful as lightning, he would surrender himself during battle, merging with me, extending his spirit and multiplying his supple, confusing movements. His particular style of swordplay led him to create a Koryū (古流 traditional martial arts school). My destiny led me to accompany him to his last breath. Since his death, I've been waiting for the one who can master me with equal ease and efficiency.
