Tantō "Amatsumara" (天津麻羅)

Tantō sharpened, black Maru 1045, double throat and refined mune, supplied in a black fabric bag

I'm named after the kami (spirit, divinity) of metalworking: Amatsumara or Ama-Tsu-Mara. He's the patron saint of blacksmiths. I'm so named because the master blacksmith who gave birth to me worshipped him. An artist and craftsman of great renown, he forged with one eye closed in order to check metal temperature according to color(?). Indeed, "Mara" comes from "Me-Ura", meaning "divination of the eyes".
My blade features two grooves and a back (棟 Mune) that's thin over nearly half its length. My frame is sober and dark, with no ostentatious decoration. As a good-luck charm, two cherry branches in relief are a discreet reminder that life is beautiful but ephemeral.

"Dictionary of Japanese gods: The 200 principal deities of Shintoism", Kévin Tembouret

Japanese mythology finally has its own dictionary of gods! Between history and folklore, Shintoism is a religion that has blended with a variety of influences since its beginnings (political power, foreign religions, local folklore...). Its existence endures and takes root in a country in constant evolution. Today, there are still over 80,000 Shinto shrines scattered across the 4 corners of Japan. With this book, discover the 200 most important gods and goddesses: their legends, the shrines in which they are worshipped, their descendants and even the primary purpose of their existence. Known as Kami or Mikoto, Japanese gods never cease to amaze! 200 celestial, terrestrial and infernal deities have left their mark on Japanese culture. These gods include some 40 emperors who changed Japan, before becoming deities in the eyes of their ancestors. That's right! The emperor of Japan, whether we're talking about Jinmu Tennō (神武天皇) or even the current emperor, holds his power from his illustrious divine ancestors. How did Amaterasu help the emperors during their conquests? How were the Japanese gods born? What is the true origin of today's imperial family? Questions with answers hidden in this book. Anecdotes, legends, stories, conspiracies... These are just some of the terms that characterize Japanese history mixed with Shintoism. The Dictionary of Japanese Gods is the result of nearly 2 years of intensive research into over fifty mythological and religious sources. In fact, it's a veritable bible for fans of mythological tales and Japanese culture.

Legislation

Since September 6, 2013, new legal provisions stemming from the March 6, 2012 law have come into force. These new rules have strengthened criminal penalties against weapons offenders and introduced a new classification.
Katanas, swords, daggers and knives are now classified in category D. The purchase and possession of these weapons are unrestricted. In principle, they may not be carried or transported without legitimate reason. If transported, the weapon must not be "directly" usable. It must be securely packed in a case or container, preferably with a padlock or other protective system.
