Katana sharpened "akitsu" (秋津), Maru 1060, selective tempering
Katana blade, 1060 homogeneous forge, genuine Hamon hardening line (刃文 Hamon), hand-sharpened, supplied with black cloth cover
My guard (鍔 tsuba) is decorated with a dragonfly, recalling the natural silhouette of the main Island of the Japanese archipelago, Honshū (本州 "main province"). The Land of the Rising Sun is also sometimes called "akitsushima" (秋津島), the island of the dragonfly. This is the origin of my name "akitsu", which means dragonfly in ancient Japanese. A symbol of summer, today this animal is called "tombo" (トンボ). For the samurai, the dragonfly was a symbol of strength, courage and victory. Fast and unpredictable, its flight recalls Japanese warriors' wielding of the katana. That's why it often adorns samurai weapons and armour.
Unobtrusive, my tempering line (刃文 Hamon) follows my thread, razor-sharp. Light, supple and easy to handle, I bring true comfort to the art of swordsmanship.
