Collector's tachi (飾り太刀 kazaritachi), dark red saya (鞘 scabbard) and white braiding
The dark red color of my saya (鞘 scabbard) is a reminder of the blood I've spilled. The white purity of the cloth covering it and my tsuka (柄 hilt) demonstrates that the samurai I served for years remained pure. Indeed, these were not duels fueled by an oversized ego, but only the hand of Justice. This symbol of purity can be seen today in the flag of the Land of the Rising Sun.
My samurai master tirelessly toured Honshū (本州), Japan's main island and province. I accompanied him and his horse on all his travels. The latter was not protected by armor, unlike his Western counterparts, but he guided us for nearly 3 decades, an exceptional feat. My master was looking for a leader worthy of service. His tireless quest was not crowned with success. On the contrary, he was hunted down and fought for the simple fact of wanting to remain faithful to his commitment to fairness and justice. My master is no longer of this world, but the quest continues...
