Collector's Tachi (飾り太刀 kazaritachi) with black, white and brown weaves

I was born many centuries ago, long before the Heian era (794-1185). I was forged, not for the purpose of fighting, but for the honor of my master. I'm a kazaritachi (飾り太刀) or decorative tachi. I accompanied my master to the imperial court. I symbolize power. I don't need to get out of my saya (鞘 scabbard) to impress. My mount is discreet today, but back then it was extremely refined, with gold and pearls.
The centuries have passed. I've taken part in many political and military episodes, but I've never been on the battlefield. True power does not lie in violence, as the great Chinese strategist Sun Tzu wrote in The Art of War The best skill is not to win a hundred victories in a hundred battles, but rather to defeat the enemy without fighting".

"The Art of War, Sun Tzui

The text of Sun Tzu's treatise, of which 13 chapters have survived, deals with everything to do with the development of strategy and the conduct of battle. While it presents the study of war as vital to the survival of states, it also takes into account the economic, moral and political costs of war; it also sets out the evaluation criteria that every prince and general must use to assess the adversary and only engage in combat when he is sure of victory. Certain characteristic elements emerge, namely the autonomy of the military - the general - from the political - the prince - once the decision to fight has been taken, the fundamental importance of cunning, and the necessary practice of espionage. Sun Tzu's strategic precepts are threefold.
