Ninjatō (忍者刀) "The Stealth", ninja sword (忍者)

Collector's ninja sword with black, straight blade, black frame, saya with two blowpipe tubes and 12 darts.

Like a shadow, I accompanied my master into the heart of the night.
Not being subject to the rules of Bushidō (武士道), he could act without constraint to spy fight his enemies. On several occasions, I fought against samurai, always victorious.
But my shinobi master (忍び) also knew how to make himself discreet, dressing like his enemies in order to infiltrate to better strike him. I served this mercenary with unconventional warfare practices, but I know that his actions were always dictated by righteousness and justice.

Ninjatō (忍者刀) "The Stealth", ninja sword (忍者) #Terressens
This ninjatō model corresponds to the imaginary world conveyed by films, manga and video games for several decades. Although the blade is sharp and the blowguns are functional, this is more a collector's model than for practical use. Nonetheless, it remains a magnificent object that will successfully decorate, for example, a dōjō (道場), martial arts training room.

Ninja (忍者) and ninjatō (忍者刀)

A ninja (忍者) is a spy or mercenary who existed until the Edo period (XVIIᵗʰ century). Its traditional name was shinobi (忍び, "to sneak"). Not subject to the samurai code of honor, the Bushidō (武士道), the ninja was entrusted with missions such as espionage, sabotage, infiltration, assassination and guerrilla warfare. For the sake of efficiency, he often dressed like his enemies. Since the middle of the XXᵗʰ century, the film industry has largely contributed to the image of the character dressed entirely in black, carrying one or two sabers on his back to ensure freedom of movement. However, this vision has no real historical value.

The ninjatō (忍者刀), a straight sword attributed to the ninja, is also largely inherited from films, manga and video games. The majority of weapons used by ninjas were modified agrarian tools. They could also use katanas with shortened blades to gain time in drawing the sword and surprise a samurai.

Ninjutsu (忍術), a martial art practiced today, is inspired by ninja techniques. As their main mission was intelligence, it was imperative that they return alive. Ninjutsu training thus combines defense and dodging techniques, so as to evade the enemy.

A magnificent museum dedicated to ninjas exists in Japan, the Iga Ninja Museum.

Legislation

Since September 6, 2013, new legal provisions stemming from the March 6, 2012 law have come into force. These new rules have strengthened criminal penalties against weapons offenders and introduced a new classification.
Katanas, swords, daggers and knives are now classified in category D. The purchase and possession of these weapons are unrestricted. In principle, they may not be carried or transported without legitimate reason. If transported, the weapon must not be "directly" usable. It must be securely packed in a case or container, preferably with a padlock or other protective system.
