Baussant, symbolic Templar dagger
Black collector's dagger with Templar symbols: Templar knight, Latin cross on coat of arms
My name comes from the Old French "baucent", black and white. It gave rise to the Templar knights' gonfanon, the baussant (or beaucéant), per fess argent and sable, a cross gules surmounting.
Thus, my blade is steel (silver-colored), and my mount and scabbard are black ("sable" in heraldry). In memory of the knights of the Order of the Temple, I wear many of their symbols, and even representations of these soldier-monks. Dagger or dagger, my vocation is nonetheless symbolic. While the soul of the Knights Templar is still present, it is no longer embodied in the path to the Holy Land, but in a daily life that respects the values of the Temple.
