Straight, my blade is mounted discreetly, like a cane sword. My black clothing makes me almost invisible, until my master swordsman draws me.
Blind, he is undoubtedly the best swordsman, for he does not allow himself to be distracted. His other alert senses give him a particular awareness of the space in which he moves with suppleness, ease and dexterity.

Zatoïchi's hidden brotherly duel

In the spring of 1964, the episode Zatoichi and the Chest of Gold offered viewers a discreet shock: the fearsome ronin Jushirō who challenges Zatoichi is played by Tomisaburō Wakayama... older brother of Shintarō Katsu. The set thus brings together two chanbara legends, even before Wakayama became the famous Ogami Ittō of Lone Wolf and Cub. The confrontation, choreographed like a game of mirrors, transformed a simple stolen tax plot into a tense family face-off. Moviegoers have since referred to it as "Zatoichi vs. Lone Wolf", a nod to this unique duel, a testament to the good-natured but very real rivalry between the two artist brothers.

Zatoichi: synopsis

Zatoïchi (座頭市, zatōichi) is a film series, followed by a TV series. Produced in Japan from 1962 to 1989. It was again adapted to film in 2003 by and starring Takeshi Kitano.

Zatōichi (2003)

Japan, XIXᵗʰ century. Zatōichi (座頭市) is a blind traveler earning his living as a professional gambler and masseur. But behind his humble exterior, he's a fearsome fighter, lightning fast and whose blows prove stunningly accurate. As he crosses a mountain, he discovers a small town entirely under the control of a gang. Its leader, Ginzo, gets rid of anyone who dares to stand in his way, all the more effectively because he has hired a fearsome ronin, Hattori. In a gambling joint, Zatōichi meets two geishas, as dangerous as they are beautiful. Okinu and her sister Osei go from town to town in search of their parents' murderer. Their only clue is a mysterious name: Kuchinawa. When Zatōichi meets Ginzo's henchmen, a confrontation is inevitable...

Législation

Katanas, swords, daggers and knives are now classified in category D. The purchase and possession of these weapons are unrestricted. In principle, they may not be carried or transported without legitimate reason. If transported, the weapon must not be "directly" usable. It must be securely packed in a case or container, preferably with a padlock or other protective system.

I maintain the blade to protect it from oxidation. Unalloyed steel (without additives such as chromium and molybdenum) is prone to rust. An alloy of iron and carbon, steel is weakened by the presence of oxygen. Air can therefore attack it, which is why my oil helps protect the surface of this noble metal.
