Personalized engraving on a katana blade Fudō Myōō (不動明王) in his dragon form wrapped around a sword (Kurikara Fudō). Fudō Myōō, the immutable master, is a Buddhist deity of mikkyō (Japanese tantric Buddhism). He is one of the five kings of knowledge, associated with fire and anger.
Our engravings on sharpened katanas are generally made between the throat and the hamon (temper line or sharpening line for mechanical sharpening). In this particular case, the engraving overlaps the groove of the blade, enabling a larger engraving (15 mm high).
